Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I submit projects that are installation based and under the umbrella of architectural/spatial research?
A:Yes, you may submit research/theoretical work as long as you have at least one built or under construction architectural, landscape or urban design project to your name. Built works may include landscapes, permanent or temporary installations, or buildings.
Q: Are graduate students with speculative work eligible?
A: No, Twenty + Change will exhibit work by groups or individuals who have started their own firm after graduation or begun doing independent work. The intent is to exhibit the work of emerging firms/designers who have not yet received widespread media attention but who have made a commitment to starting their own firm and are attempting to get themselves off the ground.
Q: The submission requirements stipulate that panels should include basic text information only (firm name, and project name). Are there allowances for text on the panels (drawing titles, legends, etc.), for purposes of clarity and orientation?
A: Small amounts of text for purposes of clarity and orientation are allowed. Contributors are encouraged to utilize graphic information (photography, renderings, drawings, sketches, or diagrams) in the form of large-format photographic images or drawings of projects on their panels for exhibition legibility, clarity and consistency, and to facilitate the decision of the curatorial committee who will be reviewing the text material simultaneously. The intent is to create an exhibition of panels that focus on the visual elements of the submission - the written project and firm descriptions will be displayed alongside each panel. Contributors should use their judgement regarding the use of text for clarity and orientation.
Q: Can I submit more than 3 panels, (eg. 2 projects displayed on 4 panels)?
A: No, you may submit a maximum of three (3) panels - each panel can display a single separate project, or two panels maximum may be devoted to a single project.
