Twenty + Change: New Perspectives
Twenty + Change and Canadian Architect are collaborating to showcase emerging architecture practices in Canadian Architect’s October 2024 issue. Complete the form linked below to enter your practice for consideration. Our curatorial committee will be reviewing all submissions received through this form, and will be selecting twenty and change practices for inclusion in the magazine.
We are looking for practices established within the last ten years that display innovation in their work, mode of operation, research, and/or other aspects of architectural practice. The final selection will aim to showcase a diversity of people and practice types, working in different geographical regions and taking a variety of innovative approaches to the practice of architecture.
Before you begin your entry, please prepare a PDF that documents at least two (2) and no more than four (4) projects by your practice. It may include photos, renderings, drawings, and/or short texts describing the projects. It may also include a practice profile (maximum 250 words) that articulates your practice’s areas of design interest, expertise, and/or research. There is no required format for the PDF, however it should be a maximum of 12 pages long and 10 MB in size.
The submission form will also provide an opportunity for you to tell us about your practice in a few sentences (maximum 300 words), and to describe what makes your practice or process unique (maximum 500 words). Preview form fields.
Only one submission per firm will be accepted.
ENTRY FEE: The entry fee is $100 for each practice submitting their work for consideration ($75 early bird before May 17th, 2024). Payment by credit card will be part of the online submission process. As a not-for-profit initiative, the goal is to cover our expenses. However, we do not want financial barriers to stand in the way of submissions. To make this initiative accessible to all, we encourage practices that cannot afford the entry fee to contact us in confidence to make alternate arrangements.

ELIGIBILITY
Projects must be submitted by Canadian practices or individuals, currently based and operating in Canada.
Entrants must have been established within the last 10 years (ie. 2014 or later).
Entries should be the work of architects and designers whose emerging practices are their main focus, rather than work done while in the full-time employment of another firm or organization.
Entrants must have completed at least one built project under their name, regardless of scale, or have a project currently under construction. No student work will be considered.
Practitioner-academics are welcome to apply, but we ask that they focus their submission on their own design work (rather than coursework completed by students).
Projects submitted may be of any scale, new construction or renovation, and built or unbuilt, however, at least one project in the submission must be built or under construction). There is no restriction on where submitted projects (speculative or built) are located.
Entrants must be willing to allow all materials submitted to be published by Canadian Architect Magazine and Twenty+Change, as well as accept all other submission requirements. All materials submitted must be original content and have appropriate license to use.
Please Note: Practices or individuals who have been featured in any previous version of Twenty + Change or in Canadian Architect’s Emerging Talent special issues (July 2016, July 2017 and August 2021) will not be considered.
